Kris Pond-Burtis

Kris Pond-Burtis was not born organized, but she can now refer to herself as a Reformed Card-Carrying Pack Rat. She has come to understand that there are physical, emotional, and spiritual effects of prolonged exposure to clutter. Kris established her organizing business to help others who face similar stresses.

Kris worked briefly as an organizer right after college, then developed a career teaching communication skills to college students. She returned to organizing in 2001 with the founding of Krisalis. She offers a full array of skills and services to her clients: Clutter clearing, space organizing, time management, and paper management. She is a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers and is a Paper Tiger Authorized Consultant.

Kris believes that organizing is a process. It begins with identifying a client's needs and mapping possible solutions. Some people have a specific project in mind when they hire her; others are seeking help getting an entire house or office organized. After Kris develops a customized action plan, the organizing begins. "See it. Map it. Do it." The goal is for clients to be as organized as they want to be, so that they have the time and the space to do what they need to do and what they love to do.

Kris's slogan, "Organizing is Stewardship," indicates that she especially enjoys guiding clients who seek to be responsible stewards of their time, talent, and treasures, but anyone who wants to become more organized is a good candidate for Krisalis, Inc. Kris promises "No guilt. No shame. No embarrassment. We just create simple systems that encourage clients to put away their things with the confidence that they will be able to find them again when they need them."

Would she start a business if she had it to do over again? "In a heartbeat." Kris thinks that every entrepreneur needs to choose a business that they are passionate about. There are always obstacles-one that Kris faces is that many people are unfamiliar with what a professional organizer is and does. Along with the challenges, though, come the rewards. Kris finds great satisfaction in the pleasure, relief, and appreciation her clients get from seeing their space transformed.

Immediately after she got the idea for the business, Kris sought assistance from the RBC. Because she had not studied business in college, she found the Fast Trac course very informative. She also met with two of the business counselors, who were quite helpful and supportive. Kris is very satisfied with the service she received at the RBC.
