A love for the game of football has transformed into a business venture for DeWayne Oliver Brasfield. A Chicago area native, Brasfield holds a B.A. in Marketing from UNI and played collegiate football with the Panthers. After landing a marketing position with Rockwell-Collins, Brasfield didn't want to end his playing days so he organized an exhibition team in Centerville, Iowa.

Christened the Iowa Tractors, the team played a one-year exhibition season in the North American Football League (NAFL), a minor league football system. The Tractors consisted of former collegiate and high school stars from all around Eastern Iowa who wanted to play for the same reason as Brasfield, the love of the game!

That evening, over 2,000 fans packed the stands and surrounded the playing field in lawn chairs cheering on the Tractors. The team was a success, in addition to being competitive, the Tractors attendance for the five home games average 4,000 fans. Realizing that he had something, Brasfield envisioned a business opportunity in launching a full sanctioned NAFL team and was ready to take minor league football to the next level in Iowa.

Being familiar with the area and noticing the success of other established minor league sports within the community, Brasfield selected Waterloo-Cedar Falls as the first Iowa area to host a NAFLCedar Valley Vikings Logo team. Named the Cedar ValleyVikings, the team will kickoff their inaugural season in 2002 witha full slate of 65 players complete with coaches, cheerleaders anda mascot. The Vikings home is Waterloo's Sloan Wallace Stadium and will play a ten game schedule with five home games from June through August. The team is part of the NAFL Midwest Division that includes teams from St Louis, St. Charles, Rockford and Springfield. With the success of the Cedar Valley Vikings, Brasfield plans to expand minor league football to other Iowa cities in the near future in creating a NAFL Iowa Division.
