Set
goals
It will give you a sense of direction.
Be
flexible
Don't schedule tasks for every hour of the day. Allow
extra time for unplanned interruptions.
Delegate
tasks
This will allow you to have more time for jobs that you alone
must do. Coworkers, roommates, or family members may be able
to handle some shared tasks.
Use
lists
Write down things that need to be done when you think of them.
Lists are helpful in remembering to do the right things at the
right time.
Set
priorities
Choose the most important things to do on your list and do them
first.
Don't
procrastinate
If you are avoiding a task, break it down and do one part at
a time.
Schedule
appointments wisely
Try to schedule doctor appointments for first thing in the morning
so that you will be seen immediately and won't have to wait.
Don't
waste waiting time
Even if you're waiting for an appointment or holding for someone
on the phone, you can accomplish simple tasks. Everyday jobs
such as opening mail and making lists can be done during this
time.
Limit
socializing
Remain polite but unwelcoming to coworkers or others who like
to chat. Getting involved in a social conversation may take
away time needed for other activities.
Stock
up on small items
If you frequently find yourself going to the store to buy one
thing (example: stamps, greeting cards, film, etc.), try stocking
up on those items to save yourself a little time.
Listen
to your body
Schedule the most important tasks when you're at your peak mentally
and/or physically, whether you're a "morning person"
or a "night owl."
Reward
yourself
Even simple things like taking a break or eating a snack can
motivate you to achieve your goals.
