CAN(N)NONS OF MASCULINITY: THE HIDDEN HISTORY OF MASCULITITIES IN THE CLASSIC TEXTS OF WESTERN POLITICAL THEORY

Explorers works of Plato, hobbes, Marx, etc. and how their characters seem to actually be prescriptive models for specific modes of masculinities. Looks into why so many of our founding myths contain stories of fathers willing to sacrifice their sons (ie: Lauis & Oedipus, Abraham & Isaac, the Christian God the Father & Jesus). Presentation examines the contemporary legacies and implications of these and other foundational theories and stories.

 

SELF INJURY AND ADOLESCENTS

Identifies the history, prevalence, and causes of self-injurious behavior in adolescents.
