CREATING AND USING COOPERATIVE EDUCATION/INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS.
Discover what is involved in creating, filling, and managing cooperative education or internship positions within your organization and the beneifts they offer to both employers and students.

EARLY CHILDHOOD AND ELEMENTARY EDUCATION.
Issues include: developmentally appropriate practice, integrated curriculum, problem-solving based math curriculum, multi-age education, emergent literacy and curriculum writing.

EDUCATION.
Motivational presentation for educators to achieve success in the classroom and in professional development.

ENVISIONING EDUCATION.
Presentation includes a number of issues, including the history of how the economy, business and industry affect the need for education. Issues in early childhood education and lifelong learning are also discussed.

HIGH SCHOOL LEADERSHIP.
A discussion regarding Young Leaders in Action, a project and leadership education program for high school students.

INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION IN ACADEMIC SETTINGS.

This presentation will explain what it means to have an "intercultural imagination" and will argue that this imagination (or sensitivity) is a necessary component in effective communication and optimal education in academic settings. Ways to improve intercultural communication in academic settings will be outlined.

INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION IN IOWA.

This presentation will explain what it means to have an "intercultural imagination" and will argue that this imagination (or sensitivity) is a necessary component in successful communication between peoples of different cultures. The presentation will consider this issue in the context of immigrants in Iowa.

LANGUAGE.

Discussion on language policy and attitudes toward languages in the United States and worldwide.

LANGUAGE LEARNING: BY ENGLISH SPEAKERS & BY SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES.
The social and cultural conditions under which children and adults learn languages.

MIDDLE LEVEL EDUCATION AND THE DEVELOPMENTAL CHARACTERISTICS OF YOUNG ADOLESCENTS.
Information about middle level education programs and practices including interdisciplinary teaming, scheduling, teacher advisory programs, curriculum design (cross-curricular integration), intramural/interscholastic athletic programs, and parent connections with school including the transition to middle level schools.

RELIGION ON CAMPUS.
What is the state of religious activities on private and public universities and what do undergraduates study in the religious studies classroom?

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY.
Development and interpretation of surveys as a research method.

Discussion includes student performance, public science literacy, meanings and manifestations, federal and state roles in retention of good teachers, defining effective science teaching and policy issues associated with the new thrust in sience education.

Discusses the controversy over the issue of teaching evolution.
