Theatre UNI to present 'The Tale of the Red Dragon'

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa Department of Theatre will present "The Tale of the Red Dragon" at 2 and 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 7 and Saturday, Dec. 8; and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, in the Strayer-Wood Theatre.

"The Tale of the Red Dragon," written by Alfred Bradley and directed by Harriette M. Pierce, UNI guest artist, is a tale of a brave young girl who sets out on an adventure in search of the mysterious red dragon that has been stealing from her village. But all is not as it seems as she discovers the secrets of the dragon and the evil Queen of Midnight.

The production will be designed by UNI theatre majors Brad M. Carlson, of Cedar Falls, scenic design; Katie Frederick-Schector, lighting design; Jade Bettin, of Odebolt, costume design; and Clint Clark, of Keokuk, sound design.

The cast includes Holly Richey of Dubuque, as the young girl, Lee Nyiang, and Justin Hossle of Red Oak as the Red Dragon. Other cast members include: Klementyna Chrzanoqska, of Krakow, Poland; Jonathan Cochran, of Cedar Falls; Shelly Criswell, of Montezuma; Samantha Dean, of Nashua; Erica Engel, of Williamsburg; Jeff Johnson, of Dike; Shana M. Lynch, of West Des Moines; and Lindsay Alena Schill, of Union.
