UNI opens high-tech classroom
UNI's Information Technology Services will introduce StudioIT, a new high-tech classroom from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 27, in Room 245 of Lang Hall.
The "IT" stands for innovative teaching, according to Jason Vetter, specialist with ITS-Educational Technology. During the introduction, ITS staff will provide an orientation to faculty on the use of the technology in the room, and show faculty how to integrate the unique technology tools into their teaching. StudioIT features 20 wireless Gateway laptop computers; and SMART Board, an integrated touch screen computer/display unit with electronic markers.
"The technology itself isn't rare," he said. "It's the concept that is rare. Normally departments put together this sort of lab to be used by its department members. We put it together for use by all faculty on campus, so they can experiment with the technology to enhance student learning."
