Iowa Space Grant Conference to be held Friday, Dec. 1

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — The Iowa Space Grant Consortium (ISGC), a NASA-sponsored group aimed at promoting aerospace research and education, will hold its 10th annual conference Friday, Dec. 1 at Iowa Valley Community College in Marshalltown.

The conference speaker will be Gregory Bennett, vice president of

spacecraft development at Bigelow Aerospace in Las Vegas. He will speak at 12:10 p.m., on “The Dawn of Commercial Space Travel,” in the Dejardin Room of the Iowa Valley Continuing Education Conference Center.

At the conference, recipients of consortium research grants will report on their projects. The researchers are from the consortium's academic members—the University of Northern Iowa, Drake University, Iowa State University, and the University of Iowa—as well as its affiliates in industry, state government and aerospace associations.

Bennett will draw from his more than 25 years of experience in aerospace engineering and management in both the public and private sectors. He has worked for both the NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston and Boeing in Seattle.

Additional information on the conference is available at the ISGC Web site at www.public.iastate.edu/~isgic or from the consortium office at 1-800-854-1667.
