CEDAR FALLSThe University of Northern Iowa's UNI-NET system received an honorable mention designation in the Educause Awards for Excellence in Campus Networking. The program honors strategic, integrated and innovative use of networked technologies on college and university campuses.
Garry Bozylinsky, UNI associate vice president for information technology, said UNI-NET is a combination of training programs, content development, technical support, technology and financial plans, vendor partnerships, and on- and off-campus collaborations.
He said the campus has made a concentrated effort to integrate technology across campus, and now has in place such innovative programs as a four-week institute for select faculty, and Courseware Camps which allow for personalized training. Partnerships with UNI's four Russian sister universities have been enhanced through Web-based multimedia and video conferencing, too.
The university was recognized during ceremonies in Nashville, Oct. 12. This year's top award went to Wake Forest University.
