UNI to host International Opportunities Fair Wednesday, Sept. 27

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa— Persons interested in expanding their horizons through study abroad and other activities overseas such as research, internships, volunteering, work or travel, can attend the University of Northern Iowa's International Opportunities Fair Wednesday, Sept. 27.

The fair, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., will be held in the Schindler Education Center Lobby. It is open to students, faculty, staff and the community, free of charge. No pre-registration is required, and door prizes will be awarded.

The fair will include a wide range of programs offered by UNI, as well as additional offerings from other universities and organizations, according to Ella Sweigert, UNI Study Abroad program coordinator.

“The opportunities that are presented at the fair encompass a variety of fields, and any major can find the perfect program,” said Sweigert. “This is an excellent opportunity for anyone wanting to study or do work or research abroad.”

Among the UNI programs represented will be Camp Adventure™, Global Health Corps, International and Out-of-State Student Teaching, the Humanities Program in Poland and the Greece & Its Heritages Program for summer 2001.

Other organizations represented at the fair will include: the American Institute for Foreign Study, AustraLearn: North-American Center for Australian Universities and the Institute for Shipboard Education-Semester at Sea.

A complete list of UNI and guest programs is available at the Study Abroad Center's Web site at <www.uni.edu/international_programs>.
