UNI student dies

CEDAR FALLS -- At approximately 3:30 this morning, an18-year-old, male, freshman University of Northern Iowa student was found unconscious and unresponsive in UNI's Dancer Residence Hall. The student was taken by ambulance to Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls, where he later was pronounced dead.

The student's parents have been notified, however his name will not be released until authorities are certain all next of kin have been notified. The incident is under investigation. The state medical examiner's office will conduct an autopsy.

UNI student death; name released

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- At approximately 3:30 this morning, an18-year-old, male, freshman University of Northern Iowa student was found unconscious and unresponsive in UNI's Dancer Residence Hall. The student, Kevin Andrew Reedy, of Council Bluffs, apparently collapsed while taking a shower. He was taken by ambulance to Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls, where he later was pronounced dead.

The incident is under investigation. The state medical examiner's office will conduct an autopsy.

UNI to host volunteer fair

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The Career Center at the University of Northern Iowa and the Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley will host the Project VIP Volunteer Fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wed., Sept. 5 in UNI's Maucker Union Expansion. It takes place in conjunction with "FUNION, " an event that brings a variety of student organizations together to provide information to students.

The volunteer fair is for students who have volunteer experience and for students who would like to begin volunteering.
