CEDAR FALLS, IowaFive people from across the country recently participated in a trip to Alsace, France, that was offered through the University of Northern Iowa Non-Credit Programs.
(Name) , (Hometown) , (Address) , traveled to the Alsace region of France, July 30-Aug. 12, as part of a non-credit program at the University of Northern Iowa.
Discover France: Alsace 2000, was led by AndrČ Walther, UNI professor emeritus of modern languages and former director of the Teachers Institute in France.
Alsace is a border region of France that became a part of the country after a series of conquests prior to World War I. The tour's emphasis was on cultural exposure and experience. There were also discussions on the Alsatian dialect and cuisine. A few lessons in Survival French were offered to help prepare for excursions, ordering meals and coping successfully while shopping.

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa Students moving into the 10 residence halls at the University of Northern Iowa will get help from UNI students, faculty and staff, Aug. 18-20. The UNI Move-In Crew members will be wearing light gray or white T-shirts with this year's theme, "Stop, Drop and Roll," on the back.
The Move-In Crew will be working on Friday, Aug. 18 and Saturday, Aug. 19, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Help will also be available on Sunday, Aug. 20, noon-3 p.m.
