New members of Mu Kappa Tau inducted at UNI
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Six University of Northern Iowa marketing students were inducted into the Mu Kappa Tau National Marketing Honor Society during spring semester.
Included was (Students name) from _(Hometown)_ . He/She is the (son/daughter) of (Parents names) .
Membership in the honor society is limited to junior marketing majors who rank in the top 10 percent of their university-wide class. Senior marketing majors and graduate students must rank in the top 20 percent of their university-wide class.
The adviser for the UNI chapter is Steve Corbin, associate professor of marketing.

UNI student receives John Deere Process Manufacturing Graduate Scholarship
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Brett Brauman, a graduate student at the University of Northern Iowa, has been awarded the John Deere Process Manufacturing Graduate Scholarship of the industrial technology master's program. Brauman, the son of Roger and Sally Brauman of Mt. Pleasant, was awarded $500.
Brauman is the General Manager of IIP de Monterrey, located in Monterrey, Mexico. IIP de Monterrey is a division of IIP/Bossard, which has locations in Cedar Falls, and Des Moines. He will return in December to finish his master's at UNI.

Chemistry students present research results at national meeting
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Thirteen undergraduate students and one graduate student from the University of Northern Iowa traveled to San Diego recently to present their research papers at the national meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS).
The ACS meets twice every year. This meeting featured 750 technical sessions with more than 7,700 scientific papers being presented. Approximately 14,000 scientists attended the meeting.
The UNI students presented papers resulting from their work on undergraduate/graduate research projects. Among the student participants was ____(NAME)____, ____(YEAR)____ chemistry major, from ____(HOMETOWN)____, who presented ____(RESEARCH PAPER TITLE)____.

UNI chapter of Sigma Gamma Epsilon initiates three new members
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa's chapter of Sigma Gamma Epsilon, the national honor society in the earth sciences, initiated three new members during the spring semester.
They are Amber Lowe, an earth science major from Bancroft; Charlotte Campagna, earth science education major from Mount Vernon; and Andrew Blake, geology major from Estherville.
James Walters, UNI professor and head of the Department of Earth Science, and Siobahn Morgan, associate professor of astronomy in that department, are the faculty advisers.
The society, established in 1915, promotes the scientific, scholastic, and professional advancement of its members. Eligible students are those completing at least 12 semester hours of earth science courses while maintaining at least a 3.0 G.P.A. (on a 4.0 scale) in those courses, and at least a 2.67 G.P.A. in all college courses.

Two UNI students awarded Construction Estimating Scholarships
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Two University of Northern Iowa students were awarded The Quad Cities Chapter No. 71 of the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) scholarships. Recipients were Jacob Denning, junior construction management major from Fort Madison, and Bradley Best, senior construction management major, from Fort Atkinson.
Each will receive a $700 scholarship.
