Carignan named director of UNI’s Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Steven Carignan, formerly interim director at the University of Northern Iowa’s Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center (GBPAC), has been named the facility’s executive director. Carignan was chosen interim director in October 2000, following the resignation of Bruce Marquis.

The national search to replace Marquis began earlier this year.

Carignan joined the GBPAC staff in December 1999. Prior to coming to UNI, he was the director of outreach and development for the Maine Center for the Arts at the University of Maine. He has more than 14 years of experience in the field, having also held the positions of technical director and director of outreach and development for other organizations.

He holds a B.A. in history, and a B.A. in theatre and dramatic literature, both from Dickinson College. He earned a master's in theatre from the University of Maine.
