Child Phonology Conference will be held at the University of Northern Iowa, June 9-10

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa—The University of Northern Iowa will host the Child Phonology Conference Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10, for those working with young children who have communication disorders.

Participants will have the opportunity to find out the latest research and practices in child phonology, spend time with colleagues dealing with similar issues and renew professional contacts and create new ones.

The conference also will celebrate the work of Mildred Templin, a pioneer in the study of articulation and phonological disorders, now professor emeritus at the University of Minnesota. Her interests remain in the areas of articulation development and its relation to other language and non-language behavior, as well as the cognitive and language development of deaf children. A dinner in honor of Templin will be held the evening of Friday, June 9. Those wishing to attend must sign-up during the conference.

The $30 registration fee includes all conference sessions and session materials, refreshments and the Friday reception. The dinner honoring Templin is a separate fee.

For more information on the conference, contact Ken Bleile, head and professor, UNI Department of Communicative Disorders, at (319) 273-2496. To register, contact Donna Uhlenhopp, UNI Continuing Education and Special Programs secretary, at (319) 273-7882 or 800-782-9519.
