CEDAR FALLS, IowaThe University of Northern Iowa's Biology Seminar Series will present "Garden Wizardry," a workshop for children, ages seven to nine. The workshop will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., Saturday, May 13, at the UNI Biology Greenhouse.
Ron Camarata, manager of the UNI Greenhouse, explained that the event is part of UNI's outreach program. "Children will play games, create garden crafts, make seed tapes, plant seedlings and participate in a scavenger hunt while touring the Greenhouse. They also will have the opportunity to gaze at plants and creatures under the microscope, said Camarata.
Shari Meyer, a UNI education major with an emphasis in child development, will present the workshop. She will be assisted by Jill Jennings, Greenhouse technical assistant, and Jena Johnson, a Greenhouse program assistant.
The registration fee is $20, and includes plant materials, handouts, crafts and refreshments. For more information, contact Camarata at (319) 273-2247.
