UNI to present community forum on quality of early childhood education

Leaders in business and education will attend the first in a series of forums on Cedar Valley issues, noon to 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 15, in the Schoitz Room of the Waterloo Center for the Arts. Featured will be results of a survey conducted by the Regents' Center for Early Childhood Development indicating a need for increased quality in Cedar Valley early childhood education. Among issues to be discussed at the forum are supply and demand, developmentally appropriate curriculum, child development, quality childcare, and partnerships.

The event is hosted by UNI, with panelists Rheta DeVries, director, Regents' Center; Rebecca Edmiaston, assistant professor, Regent's Center; Joanne Lane, children and family services director, Exceptional Persons Inc.; and Patrick Clancy, special needs director, Waterloo Community Schools. Robert Koob, UNI president, will moderate.
