UNI ROTC schedules helicopter airlift

On Friday, April 12, five Wisconsin and Iowa Army National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters and a CH-47 Chinook will land on the soccer fields west of the UNI-Dome. The aircraft will transport UNI ROTC cadets to Ft. McCoy, Wis., for a training exercise. According to Lt. Col. Michael De Puglio head of the Department of Military Science, cadets will plan and rehearse the operation at UNI and execute it at Ft McCoy.

The CH-47 lands at 4:45 p.m. and departs at 5 p.m. The Black Hawks will land at 5:30 p.m. and depart at

6 p.m.

UNI to host Funk Fest 2002

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa Department of Leisure, Youth & Human Services' (LYHS) Festivals and Special Events class will host Funk Fest 2002 at Lawther Field Sunday, April 21 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

Live bands, including Rearview Mirror, Soul Fusion, Town Crier and Hop on Jonny will perform. There also will be a basketball shootout, volleyball games, strongman competition, caricatures and various food vendors.

Immediately following the activities will be the George Clinton Parliament/Funkadelic Concert in the West Gym. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at all UNI ticket outlets, via the web at www.tickets.com, or order by phone at (319) 273-DOME. Tickets are $18 for UNI students and $23 for the general public.
