CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — Chad Kreel, a 1999 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a bachelor's degree in art, recently received a $600 award from the Art Directors Association of Iowa (ADAI) “in recognition of his achievements in graphic design while studying at UNI.”
Kreel, a native of Center Point, received the award at a Feb. 29 ADAI meeting in Des Moines.
Roy Behrens, UNI professor of art and one of three professors who recommended Kreel, described him as “an exemplary student in the UNI graphic design program...especially adept at solving problems within the limits of clients' constraints.” Behrens also said Kreel's finest works were in the areas of typography and publication design.
