UNI Leaders on Leadership series to focus on environmental leadership
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowas Leadership Studies Program will host its monthly Leaders on Leadership series Thursday, Feb. 28, from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m., in the Schindler Education Center, Room 244-245. The topic is environmental leadership.
Panelists will be Scott Cooley, project facilitator for a local food project and Yards for Kids; Chia-Chi Kuo, Ecovision member and co-owner of Roots Market; Chris Petersen, vice president of the Iowa Farmers Union and hog farmer; and David Larson, member of the Iowa Green Party.
The series provides an opportunity to learn about leadership views and practices from a variety of leaders, said Gerri Perreault, director of the Leadership Studies Program.
The series is free and open to the public. Those planning to attend should call the Leadership Studies Office at (319) 273-2332, so an adequate number of handouts can be produced.
The next program in the series will feature a panel on spiritual/religious leadership, Thursday, March 7.

UNI participates in National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, Feb. 25-March 1
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa will participate in National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, Monday through Friday, Feb. 25 through March 1.
Activities start with a "Know Dieting" presentation Monday, Feb. 25, from 3 to 4:30 p.m., in the Wellness and Recreation Center (WRC), Room 103. The week's events continue with an eating disorder screening Wednesday, Feb. 27, from 5 to 9 p.m. in the WRC. Check-in is at the main entrance desk.
A clothing drive, "Celebrate Every Body," runs through the week, with a drop-off site in the WRC, Room 104. The clothing drive encourages people to accept their bodies by donating clothes that are too small or too big, said Joan Thompson, health education coordinator with UNI Wellness and Recreation Services.
National Eating Disorder Awareness Week is an annual college campaign to educate and prevent eating disorders, while encouraging acceptance of individual body types.

Scholarships available for nontraditional students at UNI
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Funds donated by the University of Northern Iowa Connection, an association of university staff and faculty, offer from $500 to $1,000 to UNI's nontraditional students. Scholarships are funded through an auction at the group's annual spring brunch.
Applications, due April 8, are available at the UNI financial aid office, 116 Gilchrist Hall, and on the UNI Web site at www.uni.edu.
