UNI Football Coach Mark Farley to speak to Waterloo Jaycees Wednesday, Feb. 13
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Mark Farley, head football coach for the University of Northern Iowa Panthers, will be the guest speaker for the Waterloo Jaycees at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Starlite Village, 214 Washington St., Waterloo. His speech is free and open to the public.
Farley will speak about the UNI football program. In his first year as the UNI head coach, the Panthers compiled an 11-3 record, a no. 4 national ranking, and advanced to the 1-AA national semifinals. Farley was named the Bruce Craddock Gateway Conference Coach of the Year and the AFCA Region 4 Coach of the Year.
A 1986 B.A. and 1994 M.A. graduate of UNI, Farley played for the Panthers, where he led the team in tackles for three consecutive years. Once known as the "walk on from Waukon," Farley went on to become a two-time honorable mention all-American, a Gateway Conference co-Defensive Player of the Year, a team co-captain and two-time academic all-American.
