UNI student assaulted on campus

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- A female student at the University of Northern Iowa was sexually assaulted late Wednesday night as she walked toward the ROTH residence hall. According to UNI's Department of Public Safety, the woman was attacked from behind and dragged to a grassy area where she was assaulted.

The woman reported the assault at about 11 p.m. She was taken to Sartori Hospital for treatment and was subsequently released. She described her attacker as an African-American male, 20 to 23 years old, clean cut, and wearing dark jeans, a black coat and mountain boots.

The incident is under investigation.
