Stanley Lyle, Rod Library, published "Archiving of Annual Reports on
Fortune 500 Corporate Web Sites," in the Journal of Business & Finance
Librarianship 2004
, 10 (1), 3-12.

William Clohesy, Philosophy & Religion, published an article, " Moral Philosophy and Philanthropy," in Philanthropy in America: A  Comprehensive Historical Encyclopedia, Dwight Burlingame, ed.  This encyclopedia is recognized  as a major accomplishment in the field of nonprofits and civil society  studies.

Margaret Holland, Philosophy & Religion, had an essay, "Social  Convention and Neurosis as Obstacles to Moral Freedom"  accepted for publication in the book, Iris Murdoch, Philosopher: A  Collection of Essays.

Jim O'Loughlin, English Language & Literature, published the stories, "Pete" in The Sink 2.1 and "Lou Krupp, Screw Up" in Laughter Loaf 6.6. His poem, "Beautiful Viruses," appeared in Matchbook 1.

Pierre-Damien Mvuyekure, English Language & Literature, wrote a chapter titled, "From Nyabingi, The Priestess and Her Abagirwa to Nya(h)bing(h)i the Rastafari:  Supernatural Matrix for Political Protest and Anti-Colonial and Neo-Colonial Resistance" in  A  History of Africana Women’s Literature: Essays on Poetry, Gender,  Religion, Feminism, Aesthetics,  Politics, Moral Values, African Traditions and Diaspora.

Leonard Curtis, Theatre, was interviewed  by BackStage magazine about his scenic design work for the University of Iowa Summer Repertory  Theatre in the Feb. 3rd issue of BackStage.

Mohammed Rawwas, Marketing, recently had five papers accepted for publication:
"Consumer Ethics: A Cross-Cultural Study of the Ethical Beliefs of Turkish and American Consumers" and "Organizational Ethics in Developing Countries: An Empirical Investigation" were both accepted by the Journal of Business Ethics for publication. "Ethical Segmentation of Consumers in Developing Countries: A
Comparative Analysis" will appear in the International Marketing Review.
"Consumer Ethics: Moral Ideologies, Ethical Beliefs and Ethnicity in the U.S." and "Consumer Ethics in the Middle East: An Empirical Investigation of Regional Similarities and Differences" were selected for publication by the International Business Review.

Edgar Boedeker, Philosophy & Religion, has written  an essay, "Phenomenology." The  essay was recently published in Blackwell’s new volume, A Companion to Heidegger.  His essay appears in the first part of the volume, Early Heidegger: Themes and Influences.

Katherine van Wormer, Social Work, has published the book, Introduction to Social
Welfare and Social Work: The US in Global Perspective,
Belmont,Calif.: Wadsworth. She published the book chapter, "Globalization, Work, and Social Work in the USA," in Social Work around the World:III, Berne, Switzerland:IFSW. Van Wormer published "Restorative Justice: A Model for Personal and Social Empowerment," in Journal of Religion and Spirituality, 23 (4), 103-120.

Katherine van Wormer and Fred Besthorn, Social Work, co-edited an issue
of Journal of Societal and Social Policy and each wrote an article in the issue on restorative justice.

Dave Hoing, Rod Library, will have his short story "Kivam" published in an upcoming issue of the British magazine Interzone.

 

Edgar Boedeker, Philosophy & Religion, gave an invited presentation  on "Frege, Husserl, and Analysis"  at the inauguration of the History of Early Analytic Philosophy  Society at the Eastern Division  meeting of the American Philosophical Association in Boston, Mass., in December 2004.

William Clohesy's, Philosophy & Religion, paper, "Kant’s Opposition to Lying from Expediency,"  has been accepted for the Tenth International Kant Congress meeting in S“o Paulo, Brazil, in September.

Aaron Wilson, Art, spoke at the College Art Association Conference in Atlanta, Ga., in February. He participated in a panel titled: "Discarding/Collect-able: The Life-Cycle of Ephemera."

Flavia Vernescu, Modern Languages, organized and chaired two special sessions, "Queer Studies: Aspects of Homosexuality in Contemporary French Literature and Cinema," and “Representations of Space in Contemporary French and Francophone Literature and Cinema.” She also presented two papers, "MÈtamorphoses du dÈsir: la quÍte de soi et de l’autre dans Le Corps lesbien de Monique Wittig," and "ReprÈsentations de l’espace dans Le Corps lesbien de Monique Wittig," at the Midwest Modern Languages Association convention, in St. Louis, Mo.

 

 

Tom Schellhardt, VP, Administration and Finance, continues to serve on the Current Issues Workshop Committee of the Central Association of College and University Business Officers (CACUBO).  CACUBO is a nonprofit association representing chief business officers at more than 700 institutions throughout the North Central region of the United States.

Elizabeth Conrad Lavelle and Mary Taylor, University Marketing & Public Relations, received a silver Addy award for the UNI School of Music general brochure. A silver Addy also was awarded to Taylor and Janelle Barnett, Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, for the GBPAC sponsor party invitation.

Greg Stefanich, Curriculum & Instruction, was recognized as a fellow into the American Association for the Advancement of Science for his outstanding
contributions to science instruction for students with disabilities through scholarly publication and the delivery of professional programs to science educators.

Brenda Bass, Design, Family and Consumer Sciences, was recently notified
by the Center for Families at Purdue University and the Boston College
Center for Work and Family, that an article she co-authored with Joe
Grzywacz (formerly of HPELS), was identified as one of the top 20 papers
considered for the annual Rosabeth Moss Kanter Award for Excellence in
Work-Family Research.
