Harry Van Buren, Management, has placed an article in Business and Society, “Making the Case for Citizenship in Business Education” with first author Donna Wood and two others. Business Ethics Quarterly has accepted Harry’s article, “Boundaryless Careers and Employability Obligations” for a special Issue on employment ethics.

Bud Bowlin, Accounting and Ken Brown, Economics, have had a manuscript, "Empirical Exploration into the Probability Distribution of Data Envelopment Analysis Performance Measures," accepted for publication in Empirical Economics Letters.

Kenneth Atkinson, Philosophy and Religion, was selected, after
a nationwide search of professors of religion, to write a textbook,
Religions of the World, for the College Network.

Atul Mitra, Management, is first author on “Crossing a Raging River in Bare Feet: Managing the Chaos of Global Pay Systems,” in press at WorkatWork Journal.

 

Sandra Williamson, Intercollegiate Athletics, will be one of a delegation of faculty and administrators traveling to St. Petersburg, Russia to participate in the 5th Annual UNI-RGPU
(Russian State Pedagogical University) Conference on Higher Education. She will lecture in the Department of Physical Education at RGPU on American university athletic /physical education programs. The conference is under the direction of Tim O'Connor of the Office of
International Programs.

Atul Mitra and Sue Wurtz, Management, and two other authors will present “Gender and Personality-based Differences in Pay Raise Thresholds” at the Academy of Management, where Atul is also third author on “Reactions to Merit Pay Increases: A Longitudinal Test of a Signal Sensitivity Perspective,” and participating in a symposium on “New Perspectives on Culture and Compensation."

Kenneth Atkinson (Philosophy and Religion) presented a paper, "TaxoÌs
Atoning Sacrifice and JesusÌ Crucifixion: Understanding Pacifism and
Martyrdom in the First Century C.E." at the Society of Biblical
Literature and the American Academy of Religion Regional Meeting,
Minneapolis, Minn, April 5, 2002.

David Saiia, Management, will present two papers at the International Association for Business and Society, “Exploring Dynamic Stakeholder Relations," written with colleagues from Switzerland and Canada, and "Business Citizenship and Corporate Social Responsibility" with Kelly Strong of Michigan State. David will also present “Structures in Corporate Philanthropy: The Evolution of Strategic Philanthropy” at the Academy of Management, and “Subject to Controversy: Public Discourse of the Corporate Citizen” with Dale Cyphert at the National Communication Association.

Dale Cyphert, Management, will present a paper, “Ethical Public Discussion: Corporate Decision-Making and the Myth of Civic Conversation,” as well as a paper co-authored with Leslie Wilson and Rex Karsten, “The Text of Group Dynamics: Performance as a Consequence of Communication Quality in Information Systems Project Teams” at the National Communication Association.

Harry Van Buren, Management, will present two papers at the International Association for Business and Society: “Social Capital and Social Movements” and “Boundary Spanning as Value- and Legitimacy-Seeking Behavior,” as well as two papers to the Academy of Management, “The Value of Values: A Framework for Within-Groups Social Capital” and “New Institutions for New Employment Relationships: Stakeholder Networks and Justice for Workers.”

 

Penny O'Connor, Communication Studies, was inducted into the National Forensic Association Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is for people who have had a significant influence on NFA and have remained continued supporters of forensics.
