.....Robert Byrnes, music-was a featured recitalist at the Congress of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America, June 3-7, at the University of Kansas at Lawrence. He performed a program of music by past and present composers from the University of Kansas at Lawrence on the 53-bell carillon in the Memorial Campanile. All the composers were in attendance at Byrnes' program. While at the Congress, Byrnes also was featured in a front-page article in the June 7 issue of The Topeka Capital-Journal newspaper. Byrnes was a featured recitalist twice at the International Carillon Festival, June 15-22, at Washington Park in Springfield, Illinois. His programs were performed on the 66-bell Rees Memorial Carillon. Prior to the Festival, Byrnes was a featured speaker June 14 at the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America Midwest Regional Conference, also in Springfield.

.....Dean Kruckeberg, public relations-was appointed to a three-year term on the Cooperative Council on Alliances, a committee of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, designed to explore and develop relationships with like organizations worldwide. Kruckeberg also has been appointed to the editorial board of the Sage Publishing Company's new Series on Public Relations.

Service Award, the highest award presented by the Iowa Bandmasters Association.
