Most of the faculty in the Department of Geography attended the national meeting of the Association of American Geographers April 1-5 in Fort Worth, Texas. C. Murray Austin participated in a panel discussion on "Justice and the Geography of School Finance." Other faculty presented papers as follows: Dennis Dahms presented "Late Pleistocene-Holocene Moraine Stratigraphy of Stough Creek Basin, Wyoming." Dahms also co-authored the presentation "Clay and Carbonate Content in Soil Catenas, Whiskey Basin, Wyoming." Thomas Fogarty presented "The Russian Federation: Constitution and Territory." James F. Fryman presented "Patterns and Efficiency of College Student Migration, 1994." David May presented "Landforms and Sediments in the Upper Wapsipinicon River Valley on the Iowa Erosion Surface in Northeastern Iowa." Philip Suckling presented "Spatial Characteristics of Solar Radiation for Selected Regions in the United States." Kay Weller presented "Preservice Model for General Education Geography Courses."

Bill DiBrito also presented "UNI Graduating Student Survey, Spring 1995: Academic Advising, Writing in the Disciplines, Learning in Student Activities, and Satisfaction with Computing Resources," and Guido-DiBrito co-presented "Gender and Leadership: Theory and Practical Implications" at the Pacific Sociological Association Meeting in San Diego, Calif.

Durham was recently elected president of the American Dermatoglyphics Association. .....Christopher Edginton and Susan D. Hudson, HPELS-were named Senior Fellows in the American Leisure Academy at the Annual Conference of the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance in St. Louis.
.....Debra J. Jordan, HPELS-received the Outstanding Achievement Award of the American Association for Leisure and Recreation at its annual meeting in St. Louis. She was also acknowledged as the Advisor to the Undergraduate Student Literary Award winner.
.....Sam Barr, financial aid office-has been selected by the U.S. Department of Education as one of ten campus representatives to attend a meeting in Arlington, Virginia. The purpose of the meeting is to define enhancements for the 1998-99 Electronic Data Exchange Technical Reference.
.....Mary Bozik, communications-was recently appointed to the Educational Policies Board of the National Communication Association, a 7,000-member organization of communication professionals. This board is responsible for creating and implementing educational initiatives. She also co-authored the paper "In Their Own Words: The Distance Education Classroom Experience from the Students' Perspective," which was selected as one of the "Top Three Papers in Communication Education" for the Central States Communication Association Convention April 11 in St. Louis.
.....Florence Guido-DiBrito, educational leadership, counseling and administration-was appointed to the Editorial Board of the American College Personnel Association's Journal of College Student Development. She was also appointed to the Advisory Board (Chair-Research and Professional Development), National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, Region IV-East.
