Hurricane Katrina Relief Efforts at UNI
Volunteer UNI Volunteer UNI has a references to local donation sites available on their web site. IA4LA Relief FundThe IA4LA Relief Fund has been established to assist in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Donations may be made at any John Deere Community Credit Union office.

Ethnic Student PromotersContact: Ashley Nunn or Ron Green 319-222-0151 Advisor: Ron Green (319-273- 2281) The University of Northern Iow's Ethnic Student Promoters will contribute to the Hurrican Katrina relief effort by sponsoring a car wash at Carlos O'Kelley's Mexican Cafe (the parking lot behind cafe), 6507 University Avenue, Cedar Falls on Saturday, September 17 from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. There is a minimum donation of $5.00. Textile and Apparel and Phi Upsilon Omicron Baby Supply DriveA baby supply drive is being conducted for diapers, baby wipes, and powdered formula (no clothing, please). Items may be dropped off Saturday, Sept. 10, from 10-3 in Latham 251.
Anyone interested in volunteering to load and/or transport the goods to Columbus High School on Saturday afternoon should be there from 2 pm– 3 pm to help out. Trucks or larger vehicles are needed to transport goods from Latham to Columbus High School in Waterloo.
Posters promoting the Baby Supply Drive are available for distribution. Please pass out as many as possible to different locations on and off campus.

Shull Hall FundraiserSull Hall is collecting donations at their main office to be given to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina Relief. WRS Fundraiser at the Wellness Center The Wellness and Recreation Services Lifeguards and Certification Instructors are running a donation booth in the main hall of the Wellness and Recreation Center from 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. Friday. Project EXPORT/Global Health CorpsContact: Linda K. Miller, MA LPN 319-273-7857 Plans are under way to place UNI students and faculty at relief shelters in the south in the next few weeks and months. The public health ramifications from the Hurricane Katrina disaster will be long-term and far reaching. Details will be forthcoming in the next week or two. Interested faculty and students should e-mail Linda.k.miller@uni.edu with contact information and possible dates available to travel.
