Graduate Student "Inspiration Awards"

The Graduate Student "Inspiration Awards," were presented at the New Graduate Student Orientation on Thursday, August 24. Established in the fall of 2006, it will be awarded on an occasional basis to a graduate student who has successfully overcome extraordinary challenges and/or hardships while pursuing graduate study at UNI.

The inaugural award was presented to 22 students from our partner institutions in New Orleans, in honor of their "extraordinary courage, determination and tenacity" while their lives and those of their families "have been so severely traumatized and disrupted by the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina, a catastrophic storm that devastated the Gulf Coast of the United States in August, 2005."
