The University of
Northern Iowa is celebrating its 125th Anniversary this year. The celebration
has three major components. The first component "Arts in April" was
a huge success and concluded with the production of "Crazy For You,"
April 24-25, in the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center.
The second component of the
125th Anniversary, "Celebration of Community," will take place during
the summer and will showcase UNI's involvement in community events.
In June, UNI will participate in the Sturgis Falls Celebration. In July,
the university invites the Cedar Falls and Waterloo communities to campus
to help celebrate UNI's 125th Anniversary. This anniversary celebration
will be in conjunction with the College Hill Arts Festival on Friday,
July 20 and Saturday, July 21. Activities are as follows:

Sturgis
Falls/Cedar Basin Jazz Festival
A UNI booth will be displayed at the Festival, highlighting the University's
125th Anniversary. The booth will be located on the corner of Franklin
and 2nd and will be displayed at the following times:
22-- 12:00--6:00 p.m.
23-- 10:00 a.m.--6:00 p.m.
24-- 10:00 a.m.--6:00 p.m.
There
will be balloons for the kids!

Friday, July 20
1--4 p.m. Guided tours of Lang Hall and other campus buildings.
Tours will originate at the Alumni tent and will be conducted by Student
Alumni Ambassadors.
5:30--7:30 p.m. UNI co-sponsorship of the
Bill Shepherd Band Concert held in the Performing Area of the campus
lawn. Bill Shepherd will share historical tidbits about the university
throughout the concert.

Saturday, July 21
9:00
a.m.--1:00 p.m. "Walk UNI" See
how the university has grown during its 125-year history by enjoying
a self-guided walking tour of the beautiful UNI campus. Check in at
the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing
Arts Center any time to pick up your tour map and register for door
prizes. Enjoy refreshments, door prizes and a free gift for the kids.
1:00 p.m.--3:00 p.m. Guided tours of campus. Tours will originate
at the Alumni tent and will be conducted by Student Alumni Ambassadors.
12:00 Noon --Box Lunch Social Auction held West of the Ethnic
Minority Culture Center. Box lunches prepared by UNI "stars" to be auctioned
by Roger Kueter. The purchaser of the lunch will enjoy a lunch date
with the UNI "star."
3:30-4:15 p.m. -- UNI co-sponsorship of
the Eulenspiegel Puppet Show
