Welcome to the P&S Council Web Site!

The Professional and Scientific Council was established in 1978 for the purpose of studying, formulating, and recommending to administrative officers of UNI policies of interest to Professional and Scientific employees. The Council, consisting of representatives elected by division members, meets monthly during University office hours. Meetings are open to the public unless voted into executive session.

Council President Addresses Board of Regents

P&S Council President Jason Vetter spoke to the Board of Regents on April 29.  He focused on the results of the P&S survey done in the Spring of 2009 and the importance of employee benefits as it relates to recruitment and retention with his comments to the Board of Regents at their April meeting in Iowa City.

Council Members Meet with Strategic Planning Committee

Web Site Unveiled

A draft of the new P&S council website will be unveiled today, at the scheduled P&S council meeting!  The web committee welcomes your input on the new design.

The council meeting will be held today (March 11th) at 1:30 in the Presidential room of the Maucker Union.  P&S council meetings are open to the public, and P&S staff are encouraged to attend.

President Allen began by giving a historical perspective regarding state funding to UNI. In November 2008, state funding was $98 million but is now $75 million.

UNI's action plan addressed the $8.8 million reduction by initiating strategies listed below, however UNI currently remains $730,000 short of its targeted savings. To address this, UNI plans to use a portion of ARRA funds and limited one-time funds.
