Welcome to the P&S Council Web Site!

The Professional and Scientific Council was established in 1978 for the purpose of studying, formulating, and recommending to administrative officers of UNI policies of interest to Professional and Scientific employees. The Council, consisting of representatives elected by division members, meets monthly during University office hours. Meetings are open to the public unless voted into executive session.

Dell Award Recipients Named

The Eunice A. Dell Award was presented at the Administration and Financial Services Employee Recognition on January 13, 2011 to two very worthy recipients.  This year’s deserving “Making a Difference” recipients are Gary Shontz and Therese Callaghan.

2010 Regents Staff Excellence Awards Announced

The winners of the 2010 Regents Staff Excellence Awards were announced at the UNI fall convocation and they were also recognized at the Meet the President event sponsored by the P&S Council.

Meet the President - October 1, 2010

On Friday, October 1, 2010, the annual Meet the President program was hosted by the P&S Council.  President Allen recognized the recipients of the 2010 Regents Staff Excellence Award and talked about current issues at UNI.  P&S Council President, Jason Vetter, acknowledged council members, talked about P&S council committees, initiatives, and updates.  Special invitations were sent to new employees and they were welcomed to UNI at the event.

Higher Learning Commission to Visit UNI November 8-10, 2010

Every 10 years, UNI conducts a self-study in preparation for reaccreditation by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Assocation of Colleges and Schools.  That process is now underway in prepartion for the reaccreditation site visit November 8-10, 2010.  For more information visit http://www.uni.edu/accreditation/

Open Enrollment for Flexible Spending Accounts and Vision Coverage

All benefits eligible employees can enroll in flexible spending for 2011 and can make changes or enroll in Avesis vision coverage. The 2011 open enrollment and change period will start Friday, October 29  and run through Monday, November 29. All changes are effective January 1, 2011. Kaparthi named UNI's first CIO

Sashi KaparthiShashi Kaparthi, director of the UNI Office of Institutional Research, and a faculty member in the College of Business Administration, has been named UNI's inaugural Chief Information Officer (CIO).

Effective Oct. 11, UNI's Information Technology Services and the Office of Institutional Research will be combined, eliminating one senior-level administrative position. Information Technology Services (ITS) is comprised of ITS-Network Services, ITS-Educational Technology, ITS-User Services, ITS-Information Systems and ITS-Administration. Kaparthi will report to Gloria Gibson, executive vice president and provost, and will be a member of President Allen's cabinet. "I'm very excited to welcome Shashi to my leadership team," said Gibson. "He brings a faculty-perspective to the management of the information technology function, which will greatly benefit faculty, staff and students."
