UNI hires search firm for executive vice president & provost position

In consultation with a working group of the UNI search committee for the executive vice president and provost position, President Allen has hired the search firm of Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates to help with the national search.

 

The firm, Storbeck/Pimentel & Associates, is a minority and female owned executive search firm specializing in providing executive recruitment services to colleges, universities, independent schools and not-for-profit organizations.

 

Its leadership team has more than 60 years of experience in the executive search industry and has conducted more than 1,500 executive level searches for higher education and not-for-profit clients in the last 20 years. Representatives from UNI were impressed with the commitment of the firm to work collaboratively with the UNI search committee, and the firm's exemplary record of recruiting deep, diverse and qualified pools of candidates.

UNI to launch national search for new executive vice president and provost

University of Northern Iowa President Benjamin Allen has appointed a committee to conduct a national search for a new executive vice president and provost at UNI. Catherine Palczewski, professor of communication studies, will serve as chair of the committee.

 

Members of the search committee, in addition to Palczewski, are: Syed Kirmani, professor of mathematics; Melissa Heston, associate professor of education; Susan Hill, associate professor of religion; Susan Wurtz, associate professor of management and vice chair of the Faculty Senate; Philip Mauceri, head and professor of political science; Roland Carrillo, director of the Office of Financial Aid; Brenda Neff, secretary, Office of the Vice President for Administration & Finance.

 

Also appointed are: Farzad Moussavi, dean of the College of Business Administration and professor of management; Stacey Christensen, community relations manager, University Marketing & Public Relations; Phyllis Baker, director of Women's & Gender Studies and professor of sociology; Brenda Buzynski, executive assistant, Office of the President; Pernell Cezar, president, Northern Iowa Student Government and a junior real estate and finance: financial management double major from Gary, Ind.; and Rachel Brinkman, graduate student in the School of Health, Physical Education & Leisure Services and an athletic training major, from Cedar Falls.

 

The committee will hold its first meeting soon. "Our goal is to have our new executive vice president and provost named before the end of the fall 2008 semester," said Allen.

 

James Lubker has been serving as interim provost and vice president for academic affairs since the departure of Aaron Podolefsky, who left UNI in 2005 to become president of Central Missouri State University.
