Challenge Grants: College of Social and Behavioral Sciences

CSBS increased  the number and dollars of its Challenge Grants from FY11 (when only two were awarded for a total of $4,000) to FY12  (seven awarded for a total of $14,000).  Categories of the grants included:  Innovative Teaching, External Grant Seeking, and International Research & Teaching.  To be fair, a contributing factor to the lower numbers in FY11 was the availability of new one-time summer opportunities for faculty through the Provost's office; but overall, the numbers of the FY12 grants show a sustained commitment to supporting faculty development and their work.
