Revised Timeline
Laurie Wilder shared that she had discussed with committee chairs concerns raised by some committee members that additional time was needed for the on-campus interview component of the search. It was agreed that two weeks would be built into the interview schedule for these interviews rather than the original timeframe of one week.
Laurie discussed the secure website established by Parker Executive Search for committee members to review application materials. Candidate materials will be available for committee review beginning December 21, 2012. A candidate status update will be provided to the committee during a conference call at 5 p.m. (CST) on December 11.
The revised 2013 timeline was discussed as follows:
January 3 – Identify approximately eight candidates to participate in the airport interviews
January 11-12 – Conduct airport interviews in Minneapolis
Weeks of January 21 and 28 – Conduct on-campus interviews
February 1 – Present three candidates to the Board for consideration
Search Update
Laurie Wilder told the committee that the search firm began talking with candidates as soon as the position description was approved on October 25. Advertising has taken place; candidates are being recommended or nominated for consideration; and application materials are being submitted.
Candidate Status Log
A candidate status log is available for review on the Parker Executive Search secure website. The log will be updated weekly going forward. It is typical to see 50-60 candidates submit materials for this type of search.
Parker Executive Search typically recommends a smaller number of candidates for the committee to review compared to the total submission number, but the search committee will be able to review all candidate materials.
Next Steps and Other Items for Discussion
Bob Donley asked for press identification. Emily Christensen identified her representation for the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Courier.
Jack Evans inquired about the two full days of interviews on January 11 and 12. The first day typically begins at 7:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast and orientation session. Four candidates are interviewed each day during 1.5 hour sessions; five candidates can be accommodated, if it becomes necessary. Approximately 15-18 questions can be asked during the allocated time.
Mark Oman thanked the people who have nominated individuals for consideration and also thanked everyone for calling into this conference call.
Moved by Bierman, seconded by Bridgewater, to adjourn the meeting. Motion was unanimously approved.
Co-chair Oman adjourned the meeting at 4:40 p.m.
