UNI to help lead statewide STEM initiative

Gov. Branstad and Lt. Gov. Reynolds have declared Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) a priority for our state. Given UNI's leadership in STEM education, including the 3-year-old Iowa Mathematics & Science Education Partnership (IMSEP), we have earned the privilege of housing the administrative center for the new Governor's STEM Advisory Council.

When the governor signed the executive order today establishing the Council, he recognized the strong contributions made by UNI, our sister institutions and partner businesses and industries. The governor also asked me to co-chair the Council with Lt. Gov. Reynolds. I am humbled by the opportunity, and recognize that high expectations, hard work, and great potential impact await us.
