5.13 Merit System Physical Examinations

Prior to appointment at the University, an individual selected for a Regents Merit System position must complete a personal health statement. The purpose of the personal health statement is to identify any medically related condition which would impair the individual's ability to function in the position, and to ascertain that the individual has no medical condition which could seriously affect the health and well-being of other workers and students.

Candidates recommended for appointment to selected positions, including those in food services and public safety, will be required to have a pre-employment physical examination at the University Health Center. Based upon information in the personal health statement, physical examinations may also be required for other individuals, consistent with the above-described purposes of the personal health statement.

Required physical examinations at the University Health Service are provided free of cost.
