President Benjamin Allen |
Pat and I would like to thank everyone for the extraordinary welcome we've received. We knew immediately upon visiting the campus that this was the right move for us. It's truly an honor and a privilege to serve as your president. We're very glad to be here and I look forward to getting started. During the next two months I plan to spend a lot of time meeting with students, faculty, staff and administrators to learn more about UNI's culture, its challenges, its opportunities, its strengths, and the broader community's needs. With that in mind, I'll be walking around campus as much as possible this summer. If you see me, please take a moment to introduce yourself. I want to get to know you and the institution. And there is no better way to learn about UNI than by talking to the people who make up the campus family. I'm eager to serve as your advocate to people outside the campus about the strengths and needs of this great university. I'll be meeting with media editorial boards, legislators and community representatives in the near future to tell the UNI story. As I said when I accepted this position, the challenge is to secure the resources we need to continue to do what we do so well. Again, Pat and I are excited to be here and we look forward to meeting you and becoming active members of the UNI community. Ben AllenJune 5, 2006 |
