NATIONAL PLAYGROUND SAFETY WEEK —
2009 Advocate of the Year

Congratulations Michelle Adams

The National Program for Playground Safety (NPPS) is proud to announce that the Ahren’s Playground Safety Advocate of the Year recipient of the year is Michelle Adams.  Michelle is currently the Division Administrator for the Performance Management Unit with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services where she oversees child care professionals in the state of Texas.  Michelle first became part of the NPPS Safety Advocate network when she attended the National Playground Safety School in 2001.  Since that time she has encouraged others in Texas to attend the School, worked tirelessly in Texas with child care development professional to adopt the CPSC guidelines for their outdoor play environments, and provided information and education about playground safety throughout the State.  In 2006, she returned to Iowa for a refresher course in Playground Safety.

As a result of her efforts, childcare centers in Texas have a much safer play environment today than in previous years.  She is a great role model for others to follow, who have a passion for children and the creation of safe and fun outdoor environments.  Congratulations.
