UNI Grants and Contracts Incentive Funds Program Guidelines:
The purpose of the UNI Grants and Contracts Incentive Funds Program is to encourage faculty/P&S staff, colleges, departments, and other administrative units to actively seek externally funded projects. The program provides financial support to those administrative units and Principal/Co-Investigators or Project Directors/Co-Directors (PIs/PDs) who successfully obtain sponsored project funding. The monies are distributed from a university general operating fund account and are based on the facilities and administrative costs (also known as indirect costs) awarded by the sponsor. Distributions are normally made in the month that the sponsored award is reported to the State Board of Regents. Office of Financial Aid administered grants are excluded from the incentive funds distribution program. For more information about the Grants and Contracts Incentive Funds, including their distribution, please refer to the following guidelines: Incentive Funds Program Guidelines.

Iowa Power Fund: The Office of Energy Independence is now officially taking pre-applications for the Iowa Power Fund. The first deadline is February 1. Please note the following changes:

    1. Do not send attachments for any answers
    2. You must submit both electronically AND via snail mail. You will only meet the deadline if both have made it by the deadline (Feb.1for the first deadline). Thus, you will need to allow for sufficient mailing time to make the deadline.
    3. Section 1 of the new pre-app has changed to now include Project Title.
    4. Sections 2 and 3 have now been swapped. Section 2: Project Exec Summary (formerly Section 3) has changed to ask that your goals and objectives be stated in lay terms if possible. You should also address how the goals and objectives meet the intentions of the Iowa Power Fund if you have not done so. The Budget Summary in Section 2 now asks you to include Sources and Uses of Funds (which you address already in another section). You will need to repeat the information.
    5. Section 3 (formerly Section 2) has only a minor titling change. You can carry your previous information into this new document as you had it.
    6. You do not need to resubmit the internal Proposal Routing Approval Form unless you have had budgetary changes or significant changes to your scope of work.
    7. We advise you to obtain signature from Ed Ebert on or before January 28 to meet the February 1 deadline.
    8. There is no need to meet again with our Grant Specailist for budgetary review unless you have had budgetary changes.
