What is Connexus?
Campus Connexus is a fun, fast-paced opportunity to make meaningful scholarly connections with other faculty, doctoral students and research staff from across campus in an informal, social setting. Through a series of short, paired conversations you will meet UNI colleagues who are potential collaborators, mentors/mentees, and/or sources of expertise, skills and information to help you make the most of your career at the University. During the event, there is also time for socializing and reconnecting with partners from last year's Connexus.
What's new for Connexus 2011?
Small group discussions of 3-8 participants
Faculty, research staff and doctoral students welcome to attend
One participant from each college will win $200 in travel funding to support research activities
Grand Prize of $500 travel funding to support research activities
Connexus Seed Funding to support collaborative activites
Opportunities to re-connect throughout the academic year
Who should attend?
All UNI faculty, research staff and doctoral students are invited to participate in Campus Connexus. This event is for those who are interested in discovering the scholarly interests, talents and expertise of our campus community; meeting others with like scholarly interests; identifying potential collaborators from across disciplines; sharing your own expertise, skills, and ideas; and socializing with campus colleagues in an informal setting.
How will it work?
Connexus participants register in advance of the event. Based on participants’ expressed interests, OSP staff will select conversation partners from among other Connexus participants. At Connexus, you will have two to four scheduled one-on-one or small group discussions in the Slife Ballroom or meeting rooms adjoining the Porch. Enjoy refreshments throughout the event. During breaks and following your conversations, gather in the Lounge to continue your discussions, mingle, meet new people or even begin forming group connections.
