Transfer Orientation Agenda

Transfer students are required to attend the full one-day orientation program.  This begins with check-in between 8:00 and 9:00 am, and ends by 3:00 pm the same day.

8:00-8:30 a.m.    Veteran Student Informational Meeting

8:30-9:00 a.m.    Nontraditional Student Meeting
If you are a nontraditional student, take this opportunity to learn about specific resources available to assist you in meeting your educational goals.

9:00-9:35 a.m.    Making the Transition: Opening Session, Lang Hall Auditorium
Begin the transition to your new campus community. Hear from faculty and staff members about

9:45-11:30 a.m.    Educational Planning
Learn about your major and liberal arts core requirements, review your degree audit and transfer credit evaluation, and begin academic planning for the fall semester.

11:30 a.m-12:30 p.m.    Lunch
Join other new transfer students for lunch.

12:30-3:00 p.m.    Academic Advising and Registration
Meet with your faculty advisor to finalize course planning and register for the upcoming semester.
   
1:00-3:00 p.m.    Student Services Fair
Learn about offices and resources available to help you succeed during your time at UNI.

1:00-3:00 p.m.    Student ID Pictures
    Get your picture taken for your uCard, which will be issued immediately.

Hear from the Dean of Students about the role families play in supporting and facilitating student success.

10:00-11:00 a.m.    Student Services Panel Discussion
The University of Northern Iowa offers many resources to promote student success both in and out of the classroom.

11:15-12:00 p.m.    Academic Life and Expectations Panel
Hear from a panel of faculty members about academic expectations, student research opportunities, and other topics related to your student’s classroom experience

12:00-1:00 p.m.        Lunch and Student Panel Discussion
Join faculty and staff for lunch, and take the opportunity to interact with current students.

1:00-3:00 p.m.        Student Services Fair
Learn about offices and resources available to help your student succeed during his or her time at UNI.
