CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa College of Education will host its biannual Teacher Education Induction Convocation at 4 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 1, in the Great Hall of the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center (GBPAC). This will be the 44th group of candidates inducted into the Teacher Education program since formal ceremonies began in 1991.

Three hundred and eighty students have satisfied requirements for admission into the UNI Teacher Education program and are invited to participate in the formal ceremony, the official induction of students into that field of study. Rick Vanderwall, instructor in Department of Languages and Literatures, will deliver the convocation address. Becky Hawbaker, chair of the teacher education faculty, will present the candidates. Michael Licari, associate provost in academic affairs and dean of the graduate college, will grant the candidates admission to the teacher education program. The pinning and affirmation of candidates will be performed by Becky Hawbaker.

Parents of the candidates are invited to attend, along with UNI faculty and administrators. A reception will follow in the GBPAC lobby.
