CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa will host the third annual UNI Dance Marathon. The event will take place from noon to midnight, Saturday, March 1, in the Maucker Union.
Dance Marathon is a nationwide movement involving college and high school students at more than 150 schools. Each school raises money for the Children's Miracle Network Hospital in their community. Last year alone, college dance marathons raised more than $8 million.
Participants will stay on their feet for 12 hours through dancing, games and entertainment to "stand for kids who can't." Dancers will also get the chance to spend time with UNI Dance Marathon kids who have been treated at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital.
The group at UNI hopes to raise $125,000. Last year's event raised $101,379, well above the goal of $66,000. Money raised from the event goes to the Children's Miracle Network and the University of Iowa Children's Hospital.
