CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- In recognition of Women's History Month, the University of Northern Iowa will host Jessica Valenti, a well-known American blogger and feminist writer, from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 11, in Lang Hall Auditorium.

The lecture will focus on Valenti's new book "Why Have Kids?: A New Mom Explores the Truth About Parenting and Happiness." In March 2011, The Guardian, a British daily newspaper, named Valenti one of the top 100 women for her work in bringing the feminist movement online and into the 21st century. Valenti is also known for founding the blog "Feministing," a source for feminist news and ideas for young feminists.

The event is free and open to the public. For additional information, contact Catherine MacGillivray, interim director and associate professor in the Women's and Gender Studies Program, at 319-273-7102 or catherine.macgillivray@uni.edu.
