CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa will welcome Regina Dixon-Reeves as the guest speaker for the 6th annual Town Hall Meeting on Diversity hosted by UNI's Diversity Council. The event will be from 2 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the Commons Ballroom. A Diversity Fair will precede the town hall meeting from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Eight UNI faculty, staff and students will be honored with the Diversity Matters Award at the conclusion of the Town Hall. This award is presented annually in recognition of dedication and service to UNI in advancement of its diversity-related goals.
Dixon-Reeves is the faculty diversity and development specialist at the University of Chicago Medicine and Biological Sciences. In this role she oversees diversity and inclusion programs, initiatives, and strategic planning and manages the day-to-day operations of major continuing education and faculty development programs. Dixon-Reeves is a former president of the Association of Black Sociologists, and she is currently a member of the editorial board of Issues in Race & Society: An Interdisciplinary Global Journal.
