CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa, which is known for its innovative teacher education programs, is honoring its education professors in recognition of American Education Week, Nov. 12 through 16.

UNI's College of Education faculty features a number of professors who are experts in their particular fields. These experts study a diverse range of education-related topics, including education reform, teaching standards, assessment, school leadership, achievement gap and teacher accountability.

UNI, which is known as the No. 1 teacher education program in the state, inducted 380 students into the College of Education's Teacher Education Program this past October. Ninety-two percent of UNI's graduates in teacher preparation find a job or are accepted to graduate school within six months of graduation. Today, nearly 12,000 UNI education alumni work in Iowa.
