The band will perform a variety of musical selections including "The Black Horse Troup March" by John Philip Sousa, "A Copland Tribute," "Beguine for Band," and "A Christmas Festival" by Leroy Anderson and other holiday favorites. The Windy Hill Singers, under the direction of Martha Hansen, will present a pre-show concert at 7 p.m., in the GBPAC lobby.
The New Horizons Band is sponsored by the UNI School of Music and the UNI Community Music School. The group includes members ages 50 and over with various musical backgrounds who travel from all over Iowa to rehearse and perform. The band started in 1999 with 17 members and has a current membership of 85 players. Diana Blake, retired music educator from Waverly, is director of the NHB.
