CEDAR FALLS, Iowa ï¾— 'Change Leadership' will be the focus of a special workshop that will conclude the University of Northern Iowa's Leaders on Leadership 2002 Series, from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. Thursday, April 25, in the Schindler Education Center, Rooms 244-245. Sponsored by the Leadership Studies Program, the workshop is free and open to the public.

Doug Whittle, a partner with The Diagonal Group and the former performance development manager for Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc., will lead the workshop 'Strategies and Skills to Transform You from Change Victim to a Change Leader.' He will provide a hands-on opportunity for participants to: assess their views and strategies related to change, learn about the four phases of the change curve (denial, resistance, exploration, commitment), identify skills that help you manage change, and discuss how to lead others through the change process.

Whittle is a frequent presenter at workshops, seminars, and conferences throughout the U.S. and Europe on subjects related to training, technology support, change management, strategic/business planning, and resource management. He has published several articles in trade publications and served on several advisory boards for professional publications, international conferences and universities.

Whittle served six years on the UNI Leadership Studies Advisory Board, including two years as chair from 1997-1999. A 1973 graduate of UNI with a B.A. degree in English-teaching, Whittle recently completed his Ph.D. degree in organizational leadership at Iowa State University. He co-authored the recently published book, 'The Manager as Change Agent: A Practical Guide for High Performance People and Organizations.'

Those interested in attending are asked to call the UNI Leadership Studies Program office at (319) 273-6898, or by e-mail at VPESS-Web@uni.edu, to ensure an adequate number of handouts are available.
