CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa Gallery of Art will present 'MA Exhibition and BFA Exhibition #2,' from Monday, May 5 through Saturday, May 10. Graduating artists will host a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 5.
Brad Travis of Waterloo will present 'Presence of Place,' created in partial fulfillment of his Master of Arts degree in ceramic art. His work will be installed around sections of steel grain bins to create a presence of Iowa and its agricultural structures.
Four artists will participate in 'BFA Exhibition #2,' in partial fulfillment of their bachelor of fine arts degrees. Artists are; Dawn Gettler of Marshalltown; Trent Stainbrook of Waterloo; Karen Sorenson of Dubuque; and Bounnak Thammavong of Cedar Falls.
Gettler creates sculptures. Trent works with digital video. Sorensen works in color photography. Thammavong sculpts from various metals commonly related to agricultural and construction.
The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday; and noon to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. The gallery is located at the corner of Hudson Road and West 27th Street, on the main floor of the Kamerick Art Building. Due to campus construction, visitors are encouraged to park in the UNI-Dome South lot and use the Hudson Road overpass to reach the Gallery of Art.
