CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- An Army ROTC cadet from the University of Northern Iowa will join senior U.S. government officials at a national security seminar April 15-19, in historic Lexington, Va.
As a recipient of the George C. Marshall Award, Sheldon Klein, a senior from Dysart, will interact with key government leaders and discuss issues bearing on national security. The award is made annually to the most outstanding cadet at each university where ROTC is offered.
The focus for this year's seminar is the transformation of the international security environment, and the role of the U.S. Military. Cadets also will explore the implications of recent events in the Middle East, Far East, Africa and Israel. Methods of countering global terrorism and increasing homeland security will be addressed as well.
Klein has served as cadet battalion commander for the Army ROTC unit, and has been named to the UNI dean's list.
